Title: Problem Solving
Course Description: Have you ever used excessive time, human, and/or monetary organizational resources of your organization to solve a problem only to find that you were working on a result of the problem, and not the real problem itself? If so, you're not alone. Companies of all sizes waste thousands of dollars in efforts aimed at the wrong target.
In this course, learn how to accurately identify the real problems.
This course is a must for anyone pursuing continuous quality improvement.

Lynette Pebernat
Lynette Pebernat
Lynette Pebernat is a well-seasoned financial professional with almost 30 years of experience primarily in the energy industry. She has held various positions in the finance organization, from Staff Accountant to Assistant Controller and has heavy experience in system implementations and upgrades. Currently, she is a Senior Director of Information Technology at Dynegy Inc., where she is responsible for the oversight of the company’s ERP and HCM systems.
Lynette is a CPA, CMA and CFM. As a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, Lynette has held various volunteer leadership positions at the local and state level. Currently, she is on the IMA’s Exam Review Committee for the Certified Management Accountant exam. She has a BBA in Accounting from Evangel University and an MBA from Oklahoma State University.
Pat Wynn
Pat Wynn is a senior financial executive with more than 30 years of experience in the defense industry, manufacturing, telecommunication and banking industries. She has held various positions in the financial organization, from Staff Accountant to Controller to Principal Accountant. Currently, she is a Credit Analyst at First Command Bank, where she is working in the Commercial Lending Division.
Pat is a CPA and CMA. As a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, Pat has held various volunteer leadership positions at the local, state and global level. Currently, she is Chair of the Membership Committee of the Stuart Cameron McLeod Society and an Adjunct Professor at University of North Texas at Dallas. She has a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree from the University of North Texas.

The hotel shuttle will take us to the Trinity Rail station leaving the hotel at 10:25 a.m. The fare is $7.00 for adults (16-64); $1.50 seniors (65 or over) and children under 4 are free. We will catch the 10:55 a.m. train and arrive in downtown Fort Worth at 11:14 a.m. The train takes us within three blocks. We will then walk about 3 blocks and catch the first entry as it is making the U-turn. I talked to Becky at the Stock Show office and she said it wasn't that far and it would take about 20 minutes for the first entry to make it to that point.
We will then catch the 1:47 p.m. train back to the mid-cities and the shuttle will take us back to the hotel around 2:20 p.m. Boxed lunches will be ready.

Gary R. Brown
Gary R Brown CMA, CPA, CITP, PFS is Managing Director of a boutique Georgetown, Texas CPA practice that has been recognized by the AICPA as one of the best small firm users of human capital. His firm is a member of the PCPS and Government Audit Quality Centers of the AICPA. He was previously CFO and VP Finance for Astec International LTD (now part of Emerson Electric) in Manila, Philippines, International CFO based in Mexico City and Seoul, Korea for Ralston Purina, and held senior financial positions with Ford Motor Company, Honeywell, and Texas Instruments. He holds a BS in Accounting from Montana State University and MBA from Texas Tech University plus has advanced training from Stanford, University of Michigan, and University of Chicago.
He has held numerous positions with the Institute of Management Accountants including member of the national board, the audit subcommittee, and is a former president of both regional councils and local chapters as well as former National President of the Stuart Cameron McLeod Society, a leading group of individuals serving at the national level for the IMA. In addition, he has served on various AICPA committees and is outgoing chair of an AICPA MAP group. He is a recognized speaker for various national accounting conferences and has been recognized as Financial Executive of the Year by the IMA and Robert Half International, was outstanding member of the Texas Council of IMA, two time recognition as Ambassador of the Year for Georgetown Texas Chamber of Commerce, and is on boards of local symphony, theatre, and chambers of commerce in Central Texas. He is also a member of the Texas Society of CPAs, National Association of Tax Professionals, and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners Association.
